I tried growing watermelon in the spring of 2016, but failed. It was included in the raised bed rotation, but it lagged past the allotted time for it to finish. The plants I grew from seed in one of the non-raised beds did better than the one in the raised bed, but I still didn't get an edible watermelon out of it.

In May, 2017, I am getting a little bit of a head start over last year, but the plants are growing slowly again. At least one has died, perhaps because of insufficient watering.  Since watermelon required a lot of space, this is really not a problem.
