I found this common house mosquito, also known as a northern house mosquito, on a kitchen cabinet on March 28, 2014. Culex pipiens is widely distributed, living all over Europe and in the Middle East, as well as North America. It's primary targets are birds, especially American robins and birds of the family corvidae, but it also goes after humans, dogs, and other mammals. In addition, it gets sugars from fruit, nectar, and other plant sources.
