Front Porch

The front porch is a tiled section of the house's foundation where my guests and I often enter the house. At a macro level, it appears sterile. Visitors typically stop there, press the doorbell button, and wait for me to go to the door and open it. Express mail and package delivery people tend to ring the doorbell and leave. My front door has windows, so I can see who's on the porch without opening the door. Sometimes I don't answer if the person appears to be a canvasser.

The front porch is between the house to the north and east, and to the main hedge area to the south and west.

Insects, birds, squirrels, microorganisms and other life forms presumably pass through the porch area. Mud daubers make nests under the eaves, which one can see facing away from the front door.
