Green Lacewings - Texas A&M

This green lacewing made its way into my kitchen on October 12, 2013. Adults typically eat pollen, nectar and honeydew, and some species can be somewhat predacious. The larvae are predators, especially on aphids. They also eat insect eggs, thrips, mealybugs, immature whiteflies and small caterpillars.

Green Lacewing female lay their eggs at the end of stalks to protect them from ants and other lacewing larvae, which are cannibalistic. Eggs can be laid in a random pattern of in a spiral or in a straight line on stems.
