On January 7, 2014, the temperature fell to an average of 27 degrees in Houston. I don't have any record of its effect on the lot, but it was insignificant compared to the freeze in January 2017.
On January 23-24, 2014, the temperature dipped to 21 degrees overnight and stayed below freezing during the day. A bit of ice rested on my greens, and the bird baths were frozen. I didn't have any freeze-sensitive plants growing in the garden at the time, so the freeze didn't do an significant damage.
The water in both of my bird baths froze.
