I topped off the leaf pen for the second time this month, and there are still plenty of shredded leaves left in the pile alongside Bed 1.
I ripped up some bagasse and cardboard and added it to the top of my compost pile.

I finished mowing the front yard, and I mowed a lot of the back yard. I also removed the logs that had defined the outer border of a walkway I made around the herb garden back in 2014. I initially meant to move them temporarily so I could mow the tall grasses and whitemouth dayflower that grew around the logs, but then it seemed pointless to put them back since the St. Augustine grass was filling the pathway anyway, and I often walked on the grass outside that path. I put the logs in the new log pile between the back fence and the grape wire. I am leaning towards wanting to favor the St. Augustine grass over the tuft grasses, bermuda grass, and sedges that compete with it.

I harvested two large Armenian burpless cucumbers. As directed on the seed packet, I soaked them in cold water, then put them in the fridge.
June 14, 2017 - partly cloudy
I removed another tomato plant from Bed 2. Only one remains, and I should probably pull it too. It has a few cherry tomatoes, but it looks weak overall. I moved the one I pulled to the backyard nook with the other plant waste. The existing compost pile has too much fibrous material in it, and that material needs to be moved to a separate pile and cut into small pieces.
After moving the tomato plant, I saw more sweet potato leaves poking up out of the ground. I moved them over to the south side of Bed 2.
I watered areas that needed watering.
I finally picked the bush beans, which had only a small number of dry, moldy pods. The "contender" plants are producing more flowers, but the edamame do not. I will remove them when I remove the "Oriental Wonder" pole beans once the remaining pods dry.
The Armenian burpless cucumber plants are getting powdery mildew, as cucumbers tend to do. The cantaloupe plant is fine. I hope a cantaloupe or two are ready when my friends come over on 6/18.
The two new papaya seedlings are doing fine. I have to remove one of them and maybe move it elsewhere.
I filled the back bird bath with water.
