Lichenophanes bicornis - Kaufman Field Guide to Insects of North America By Eric R. Eaton, Kenn Kaufman

I found this two-horned powder-post beetle on a cut branch I was removing from the back yard nook on May 26, 2017. According to Kaufman Field Guide and other sources, the beetles in the Bostrichidae family tend to eat wood and bore into twigs and branches. They have gut bacteria that enable them to digest cellulose. They are about 1 cm long.
