I found this southwestern squash vine borer in the morning of March 14, 2017. Seeing that I already have, on March 14, 2017, some acorn squash fruiting, and I intend to grow some cucumbers, canteloupe, watermelon, and butternut squash, my pleasure in discovering this unusual looking moth was dampened by the thought that I might need to take preventative measures against it.
