I added a spearmint transplant to my herb garden in 2014, and it is shown in this picture from October 19, 2014. Since then, the peppermint, wintergreen, and spearmint have moved around the herb garden so much I'm not sure which is which. I have to relearn how each of them tastes! The spearmint came to dominate the bed, and the peppermint is no longer there.

In an attempt to keep the spearmint contained, I moved some stems into a pot, and they took. However, there must be something in the pot that the spearmint doesn't like. It seems to dry out quickly and die back without dying completely. A pot right next to it has lemon balm, which stays perfectly healthy.
