I videoed some big-headed ants walkong along a raised bed frame on March 21, 2017. Big-headed ants have major (big-headed) and minor (small-headed) workers. The major workers do heavy lifting, but they are more timid than the minor workers, and they flee from potential danger more readily than the minor workers. Only about 1% of the workers are major.
Big-headed ants eat other insects and the honeydew from aphids and scales.
