Beetle Taxonomy
Phyllophaga Subgenus Listrochelus - BugGuide
These beetles are commonly known as June beetles in Houston, but are referred to May beetles in BugGuide. Identifying individual species often requires examining genitals, which I am not qualified to do. The species that best matches my photograph is Phyllohaga curialis. I found this particular beetle on March 28, 2014.
