I happened upon this tough, rubbery mushroom while I was tending to my garden on March 10, 2017. I wasn't able to match it with a photo with such a long stem combined with a very small cap. In every other way, it was clearly a polypore. In comparing it to similar polypores, Polyporus arcylarius was the best match.
