Scincella lateralis - Wikipedia
On March 25, 2018, for the second time, I removed the tarp from over my compost pile and found at least three little brown skinks lounging on the surface of the mound. Of course, they didn't lounge there for long. Unlike green anoles, they are very skittish and hide very quickly. I was surprised I was able to get one to stay still long enough for me to take his/her picture.
