In my back yard, a few southern annual saltmarsh asters grow near the myrtle bed and south end of the west fence. They are like mini trees here, peaking at around six feet tall. The many flowers look about the same as those on much smaller plants in the genus Symphyotrichum, such as annual aster. I have been told southern annual saltmarsh aster only grows six inches high in different environments.

On June 24, 2014, a southern annual saltmarsh aster had grown a couple feet tall by the west fence.

On August 24, 2014, the flowers on another plant were starting to bloom.
On October 19, 2014, the plant by the west fence was in full flower.
It was leaning over and would eventually be almost sideways on the ground.
