Meromacrus acutus in Bug Guide

When I first saw this fly on April 9, 2021, I thought it was a kind of wasp or bee, but once I got a good look at its mouth parts and eyes, I knew it was a fly. I saw it when it was flying, but it landed on the (filthy) window shelf behind my kitchen sink, I could see it much better.
