I bought a butterfly bush from Buchanan's, an organic nursery in Houston. It lived by the back fence in 2014, but it died within a year.

Here is the butterfly bush on April 20, 2014.

By June 10, 2014, the butterfly bush had started fruiting. Some of the flower heads had extended along with the branch they were on as they produced the fruits (left foreground).

On October 19, 2014, the flower heads were shriveling as the plant started to die back to its roots for winter.

On February 1, 2015, I found emerging leaves in the same location.
