I had bought a lot of soil components for my previous house in the fall of 2012, and I took a lot of that soil with me, making many trips to get as much as I could. I laid the soil on large cardboard lined up along the western fence right by the gate to the back yard. The soil stayed there until around the time I created my first bed, on August 23, 2013, and then I moved it over gradually.I started a wood pile at the edge of the star jasmine patch in the northeast corner of the back yard. I also started a compost pile in the back yard nook. Unfortunately, I don't have photos from this day.
