Mesoamerican origin of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is revealed by sequence data
Duration: Annual | Origination: Meso-america | Edibility: beans and pods | Status in Yard: Garden, Spreading |
I regularly plant both bush beans and pole beans in the garden, always from seed. Since the spring of 2016, I have grown beans as part of a garden rotation. Some of my planted beans, most notably black-eyed peas, have started growing outside of garden beds.
I planted my first beans, "Kentucky Blue", on the "arbor" in the first week of September, 2013.
Here they are growing on the "arbor" on May 10, 2014.
