Radish - Wikipedia

Radishes grow great here in Houston. I sowed some radish seeds, along with beets, lettuce, and other plants, in my first garden at my current address, and they all sprouted on August 31, 2013. The radish seedlings were the fastest to emerge.
The leaves are also edible, but they should be cooked first since they are rough and scratchy when raw. I find that when I leave radishes in the ground too long, their skins can get tough. Also, they can be watery if picked soon after heavy rains.
