Dwarf palmetto is native to the southeastern U.S., including eastern Texas. It is often found in semi-swampy areas that have been preserved in the Houston area, such as the Armand Bayou Nature Center.

There was a single small dwarf palmetto in my back yard, next to the water oak. I removed both of these plants to make room for my raised beds in January of 2016. The dwarf palmetto did not grow at all since I first saw it.
