Duration: Perennial, deciduous Native to: China and KoreaEdibility: Not described as edibleStatus in Yard: One full tree, live stumps

My back yard initially had two large crepe myrtles by the back patio, but I cut back one of them to the stump to make room for my herb garden. Squirrels use the remaining one to travel to and from my roof.

There are also crepe myrtles between the fences, as well as stumps just inside the back fence that continue to produce suckers. I occasionally pull off the suckers from all the crepe myrtle stumps in the yard.

Two leaf buds appearing on March 11, 2014.
